Silk Road Organization is looking for “ WASH Project Manager “

The objective of the position:

This involves effectively managing the assigned WASH and ERL project(s) in line with the objectives, budget and timeframe laid down in the project proposal. The role also includes enhancing beneficiary participation, managing and training local staff, implementing control and quality procedures in cooperation with the M&E unit and the Project team, maintaining to the relevant internal policies and regulations, planning and initiating new infrastructure and WASH projects/proposals.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1- Manage and coordinate the assigned WASH and ERL project(s) to meet the project objectives within the budget and allotted time frame.
2- Ensure appropriate technical and social interventions to secure the outcome, impact, and sustainability.
3- Identification of appropriate design, maintenance and sustainability of the rehabilitated and operated water wells, water systems, and sewer systems.
4- Ensure technical and programmatic quality of the ERL and WASH projects.
5- Provide strong leadership of the assigned WASH and ERL project(s), working to ensure both short/long-term positive impacts and outcomes for the beneficiaries, local authorities (where applicable) and local WASH and shelter staff.
7- Ensure the regular supervision of the project activities daily and prepare the needed reports as required.
8- Work towards the continual improvement of the processes and the technical implementation.
9- Ensure integration of beneficiary participation and accountability.
10- Ensure reporting of activities for internal and external reports.
11- Assess existing project(s) activities and recommend actions to be taken.
12-Implement relevant policies and standards relating to current operations including national, and international (e.g. Sphere and Core Humanitarian Standards, CP, WP and Anti-terrorism policy) standards, donor guidelines and other good practice.
13- Writing new WASH proposals.
14- Maintaining the donor regulations, requirements and policies to the assigned project (s).

Qualifications and Skills Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or Management or Civil Engineering or Hydrology / Geology desirable or any relevant field.
Higher-level qualification in a technical field, preferably in water and sanitation.
Skills:

  1. Three years of post-qualification professional experience in a relevant field.
  2. Aptitude for community mobilization and capacity-building. Good communicator.
  3. Able to prioritize, to enforce procedures, and to set clear objectives for staff and to delegate.
  4. Leadership and project management skills.
  5. Able to develop and maintain effective relationships with the team, beneficiaries, and other agencies.
  6. Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian standards such as Sphere and humanitarian standers.
  7. Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels.
  8. Good report writing skills and problem-solving ability.
  9. Dynamic, creative, open-minded, flexible, self-learner, self-motivated, and hard-working.
  10. The ability to work in a systematic and organized manner.
  11. The ability to use Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint in a professional way.
  12. Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written).
  13. Good organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  14. Flexible and able to work well under pressure
